Lace up your sneakers and head to Comcast Arena at Everett on Monday, June 18 at 9 am for the Walk On kickoff event! Avoid the Northwest’s sketchy outdoor elements and enjoy the Arena’s controlled climate, every Monday and Wednesday morning between 9 - 11 am
“Walking may well be the perfect exercise,” stated Kim Bedier, General Manager at Global Spectrum. “Walking is safe, simple and doesn’t require expensive gear. The health benefits are enormous and we’re thrilled to provide a comfortable and safe atmosphere.”
Prior to the inaugural first lap at the grand opening kickoff, Jordan James (CSCS, USAW), premier athletic trainer for the Everett Raptors, Washington Stealth, and the North Sound SeaWolves will be leading a ten minute stretching session. An expert in fitness and kinesiology, he will inform walkers of the benefits of stretching and the proper techniques to avoid injury.
Integrated Rehabilitation Group/Everett Physical Therapy: Sports Performance Center will be onsite providing nutritional advice, offering free injury screenings and recommending proper footwear. They will also be distributing free water bottles and t-shirts to participants.
Five laps around the concourse equals one mile, and light cardio sessions will also be held on the south side staircase. Walkers are asked to enter through the Comcast Community Ice Rink on the Broadway side of the building. Comcast Community Ice Rink staff will record participants’ personal miles and will reward all walkers with a free gift.
Free coffee and water will be provided at the grand opening. For all future Walk On dates (and the kickoff), the Power Play Café will be open in the Comcast Community Ice Rink, serving espresso, healthy treats, and deli options to jump start the day.
Walk On may not be available on all dates due to events; walkers are advised follow us on Facebook or Twitter or to confirm availability on the Arena website at www.comcastarenaeverett.com.
